Instagram Font Tips
- Your bio is limited to 150 characters, and decorations such as wings or emoji frames count towards it. Check the length before you save.
- The Name field is searchable. Styled letters may not match searches for your name, so keep a plain-text version of your name or niche in it, and use fancy fonts in your bio instead.
- Your username cannot contain symbols other than letters, numbers, periods and underscores, so fonts only work in the Name, bio, captions and messages.
- Add line breaks in the bio sparingly. Mixing one styled line with plain text reads better than styling everything.
- Avoid styling hashtags: styled hashtags usually don't link or get indexed.
- Check your profile after saving: some rare symbols can show as boxes on other phones, and bold, italic and bubble are the safest.
Got questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the IG font changer the same as the Instagram font changer?
Yes. "IG" is short for Instagram, so this one page covers both. The fonts are the same Unicode text for your bio, captions, Stories and DMs.
How do I change my Instagram bio font?
Type your text above, copy a style, then paste it into Profile, Edit profile, Bio. Instagram does not have a font picker there, so pasted Unicode text is how it is done.
Can I use these fonts in my Instagram username?
No. Usernames only allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores. You can use fonts in your Name field, bio, captions, Stories and direct messages.
Why not use fancy fonts in my Name?
The Name field is searchable and styled characters may not match plain-text searches, so you might become harder to find. Many people keep the Name plain and style the bio.
What is the Instagram bio character limit?
150 characters. Styled text and decorative symbols count as characters, so shorter designs fit better.
